Octagonal famille-rose armorial plate from a dinner service made around 1735 and imported from China. Such pieces were ordered from China through the East India Company, armorial bookplates being often used to provide a pattern.

The arms are of those of the 5th Duke of Hamilton before his marriage to Lady Anne Spenser of Rendelsham, his third wife, in 1737. The Hamilton crest, with the familty motto "Through" is on the edge of the plate.

Later additions or replacement pieces were commissioned from the 8th Duke about 1785 from the Derby factory. It is currently on display in the China Hall at Lennoxlove.
